The state government has awarded the Boring company the contract to make the upcoming underground highway tunnel to connect the city to the capital. The boring company has already finished new underground highways in Maharashtra, New Delhi, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

The highway is expected to ease the interstate goods delivery problems due to the limited transport hours in the night. The project will start at the end of this month with a timeline of 9 months to complete. The tunnel will be state of art with electric feeder lines of trucks and buses, underground truck stops, hotels and restroom services. Once the project is complete its expected that electric personal car transportation will resume. However it's expected that the ban on internal combustion engine vehicles will stay according to the Paris 2040 agreement.

Nita Anand, the Minister of roadways and transportation inaugurated the road in the virtual event and conducted a virtual walkthrough of the road. She said there are upcoming plans to extend the highway to Kolkata. The overland roads are unusable as the asphalt melts in the day, and the truck drivers have a hard time moving on them. During the tunnel construction the existing overland highways will be demolished simultaneously as they work as huge heatsink during the day which is radiated in nights. The spaces will be left alone for the arid vegetation to take over.
